Oops! I didn't realise this was a thread about being cool by naming obscure indie albums. In that case, you can't go past The John E. Gruntcakes Underground Hip Hop Techno Yodelling Quartet's - Sucking the Farts Out of Dead Pigeons as the best album ever.

obscure? thats what the problem is.. if someone mentions any other band than Radiohead and Coldplay the public are lost. Dig a little deeper.. you might find something you like.

Jeff Mangum, a sort of twisted genius did two albums, "On Avery Island" and "In the aeroplane over the sea".
He was really on the edge, but did two brilliant albums, then did what musicians almost never do, vanish, alive. Thank you Jeff

I'll make an exception with - Gruntcakes, Chuck. What he can't do with an electric flugelhorn and Jew's harp is basically not worth recording. I have his follow up - Snotblocks, Lamingtons and Elvis Impersonators. Have you had a listen to that? It rocks.
