up till now, ryan gosseling has reminded me of brad renfro.....if you blink, you've lost the thought and on to something else but he played this role like he was on magic. the characters and how they were portrayed, his point of view on how to play an addict, he couldn't have gotten it down any better, broken social scenes soundtrack through it all....all of it. I thought it was one of the better films I'd seen in some time. if I were a critic i'd write more about it to explain the beauty of the movie but I am not so i'll just say I liked it. a lot. you should see it.
in other news...off to the boundry waters for some short portages and a small getway in the great northern minnesota woods with a wilco show on the way home to conclude it.
wahoo!

| jamjari15:10 UTC09 Aug 2007 | it's an excellent film, could be the best i've seen about drug addiction. i liked the fact that all clichés are in the "wrong" place, so it's worth watching. it left me in tears, i was really touched by the extreme sadness of Gosling's character. i'll check all his next films, that's for sure. The young girl who plays Drey is good too. She played her part very subtly, not easy when you're 14.
Stay was really bad. 3 good actors, but a boring and shitty story. what the hell were they doing in that mess.
