Hello all, I'm fairly new to this branch, and don't know whether this has already been done, but here goes.

Some lines seem to be known by just about everybody and are often quoted (and misquoted). Who could forget Rhett Butler - Clarke Gable - (Gone with the wind) saying, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn".

Vito Corleone - Marlon Brando- "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse". And Clemenza saying, "Leave the gun, take the cannoli". from The Godfather.

Tom Doniphon - John Wayne - saying, 'The bar's closed" and ,"Hey Pilgrim, you forgot your pop-gun", from The Man who shot Liberty Valance

Humphrey Bogart and, "Play it again Sam", from, of course Casablanca.
"E.T. phone home" and pointing his finger.
And, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" said by Forrest - Tom Hanks - in Forrest Gump.

What are your favourite movie lines?

Youve misquoted at least two.

Brando/Corleone never says "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse," and Bogart/Spade never says "Play it again, Sam."

Have I - which are the misquotes? I know the one from Forrest Gump was slightly longer.

It's maybe, "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse". On the day of his daughters wedding, Corleone conducts business and Johnny Fontane has been denied a part in a picture and comes crying to Vito who tells him He's gonna make him an offer he can't refuse and to go out to the party.

He sends Tom Hagen to fly down to Hollywood to talk with him .

#4 -- Wrong, wrong. The reference to the unrefusable offer is made by Michael (Pacino) explaining to the Kay (Keaton) how Johnny Fontaine is connected to the family. A bandleader wouldn't let Fontaine out of a contract, and Don Vito (he's called Don Corleone in both the book and the movie, but that's just wrong; Don goes with the given name) made him an offer he couldn't refuse, either his brains or his signature would be on the release form.

Later on Michael explains how he'll get Moe Green to turn over the hotel and says "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse."

The Johnny Fontaine story is based on a widely believed story about Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey, and your Johnny Fontaine story is based on a widely believed story about how Sinatra got the Maggio role in From Here to Eternity, but in Kitty Kelly's biography of Sinatra, which doesn't pull any punches, she says neither is true.

In Godfather II, Vito Corleone does deliver a version of the line.

I think the Bogart line goes like this: "Play it once more, Sam." It's interesting that many people get it wrong and think he says, "play it again, Sam." I had to replay this scene several times and listen very carefully, and still I'm not sure if I heard correctly.

Then again, I might be completely wrong. I've just read the wiki link and it seems it was Ingrid Bergmann who said, "play it, Sam". Well, it's been a while since I watched Casablanca.
