I hate this kind of thread.
So instead I'll just mention that last night I played Carmen on our stereo--the whole thing (the soundtrack from the movie version, with Placido Domingo and Julia Mingenes Johnson--not the greatest Carmen ever recorded, but good enough and I got it, used, for cheap). Normally I restrict opera to the stereo in my bedroom, but this time I was using the one in our living room, which you can hear through the entire apartment.
My flatmates seemed to be mildly annoyed, but then again, the one who was most annoyed is the one that subjects me to hip-hop in the mornings. Swings and roundabouts.
And I mean--hey, it's Carmen. Catchy, tuneful, and very hummable. I could've put on Die Frau ohne Schatten, couldn't I? And then where would you be, o bad-hip-hop-loving flatmate, huh?

You're batting 3 for 13, OP.
Depends on how you're measuring.
Springsteen is great. Queen is good. ABBA is the music equivalent of halloween candy--no nutritional value, and too much will make you sick, but it's still tasty in small doses. Madonna is good for what it's good for, and you could say the same thing about AC/DC (though obviously they're good for different things). Rod Stewart had that one song.
Supertramp is truly execrable.
