Favorite web radio station?

Interest forums / Culture Vultures

I can´t stand normal radio, with it´s commercials, announcements, annoying DJs and their guests yakking ad infinitum, cutting good songs up or (worse) making them a medley....

What I want is a non-stop good mix of music!

I found Blaxploitation Jive Web Radio and it´s awesome!!! :)

Curtis Mayfield, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin and more obscure black artists get played here full time....

What is your fav web radio station?

pandora.com

+Dear Pandora Visitor,

We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative. +

Too bad, that sounded promising! :( thanks anyway, akdug

WFMU (music) which is about the only one I've heard that manages to be ecclectic
'Resonances FM' which is basically anything goes FM as far as I can work out with interviews of the members of the courdroy appreciation society or people reading Greek mythology

Do you have a link, tigronne?

www.einslive.de

It's a 'normal' radio station, playing English & German pop songs. But the ads are limited to top of the hour, just before the news....

Radio Paradise plays just music, very eclectic as well.

Thanks orangutan and mojcek! :)

last.fm is pretty good, just type in a few of your favorite songs and some kind of spiders web of songs emerge that plays similar but clever connections to your taste
other than that I dont listen to broadcasts, I probably should though

Thanks doggybisquetts, Last.fm is pretty cool, and they have lots of different styles... neat! :)

I'm technologically challenged so I just googled WFMU (originally based in New Jersy) and Resonances UK (104.4 - I don't believe they gave these people an actual bandwidth) and streamed from there so now they're a permanent fixture on my i-tunes (if that made snese)

Ria, if the damn things weren´t so farking expensive... besides I want to hear stuff I haven´t heard before!

Last.fm is very good by the way, I like how you have some control over the type of music you want to listen to... already discovered a bunch of artists I didn´t know about!
