Why has the original CSI show imploded recently?
All the key characters have left / are leaving. Why don't they just pull the pin on the show and cancel it?

It's a brand, not a show. For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone ever thought that it was any good.

1

CSI (the original) was a good show for many seasons - better scripts, interesting characters and relationships, less use of stylised shooting and musical overlay.
CSI NY was/is significantly inferior (only saving grace is the NYC backdrop)
CSI Miami - why bother ?

2

yeah, i think csi miami is the worst....

i guess they are trying to win new fans, fans who do not know the original cast....

3

i think csi miami is the worst....
Fully agree with that. Every time I see David Caruso adjusting his sunglasses my blood pressure goes up.

4

exactly, that look on the face & the yellow hue....barf....

5

Can't wait till the day Horatio himself ends up on the coroner's table.

6

lol, i bet he'd still be wearing those bloody glasses on the slab....with the obligatory yellow hue, of course....

7

I bet he (as usual, unsuccessfully) tries to be really cool when he speaks his last words...

8

yeah, with all those wrinkles on his face & struggling to make a face expression that does not induce vomit....

9

"What I do know, my friends, is that I am almost dead..."

10

yellow hue appears on the background *

11

Like magic - crime is solved by putting hands on hips & adjusting shades, all under the orange filter sky. Yes - "Miami" is the worst of them...

Any show that remains on the air will see a turnover in cast. Actors wouldn't be actors if they didn't want the chance to act in many roles. Eventually they all want to leave to accept other offers.

But personally, I would have continued watching the show if they hadn't kept increasing the amount of close-up CG gore shots, and hadn't tried to parlay acting chemistry into romantic chemistry. If I want to watch a romance, I'll tune into a romance. Forcing skin and tongue into a scene that the actors could very well carry on their own without that aspect is a real turn off to me.

13

Turnover is inevitable I agree.
But with CSI - its largely all happened in the last 2 seasons - Warwick, Sara now the Great Man himself. I don't care who they bring in to replace him - NO ONE can bring what Petersen has brought to that role.

14

I admit to never having survived watching an entire episode.
I can stand a few minutes, if only because of the brilliant cinematography, very compelling in HD.
But the entire premise is retarded. Forensics investigators are worker drones on crime scenes. They do not lead the investigation, they do what they are told to do by the police. They do not interview suspects, they do not speak to criminals.

15

I actually prefer CSI New York - probably because of the New York backdrop but also it just doesn't seem as tired as CSI (original).

And, CSI Miami is great to simply take the mickey out of. I know there are CSI Miami drinking games at university - how often David Caruso pauses and looks seriously at something, males wearing white to a crime scene, females wearing white to a crime scene, number of times they focus on their blackberry/pda, etc etc.

'tis great.

16

hate to break this to you, but csi:ny is actually shot in la....;p

17

Haha so not vancouver?!!

Or is it Toronto which is the alt-NY?

18

Sure it's not shot in Vegas? That would explain why sometimes you see the Eiffel Tower in the background when Mac is near the Empire State or Chrysler buildings

19

wherever it was, the show's crap....

20

They should do a "CSI international" and shoot at Epcot center.
