I travel in Central America and it gets dark there around 6 PM and electricity is scarce, so I take a bunch of keychain flashlights to use as gifts. They are always a big hit with the locals. I use them whenever I get directions from someone or good service or just to make friends with people on the road. One night after an unexpected and lengthy good time in town I had to use one to get back to where I was staying. Very useful!
Always give gifts and lots of smiles and you create your own good will.
