I'm talking Hollywood movies, not locally produced crap.

cheapest I think I ever saw were in the Philippines, $2 to $2.50.

Personally, I think it's precisely Hollywood which is crap, emphasizing the verb. Past glories.

The cheap theaters in Western Canada were $1 until about 5 years ago. They show more popular movies that have finished their runs in regular theaters. Good places to watch movies that you'be missed at first run but want to see on the big screen. They make all their money off popcorn and junk food.
Now they cost $3.
