What would you expect to see and experience in a blues' club, apart from the music? Some ideas please ...

Great, anymore ideas please?

A friend who doesn't know too much about 'blues' music/ lifestyle (neither do I) has been asked to help design a blues' club. Just thought I'd see how other people think of it.

Design - well I love that classic look! I'd love to see wood furniture, leather perhaps, a long bar down one side, raised stage for the performers, varying size tables squeezed around the stage.

Have good toilets - shabby cramped toilets will let a place down. Seriously - I don't know how many places that spent a fortune on the main furniture & have toilets that look like they should be in a school. It spoils the appearance...

& a really good club should have great & clear sound (sound obvious but most of them have volume way loud with a shoddy speaker system).

Have a look at the club in that Robert De Niro film "The score" great looking club in there...

downstairs and windowless with lingering smoke from a few years earlier depending on where this blues bar is. matchbooks holding up table legs. sticky floors with toliet paper over flowing out of trash cans in the mens room and too much red lipstick in the womens. occasional handshake drugs and smiling faces mixed in with frowns. old stories with optimistic defeat. black, white, young and old mixed in.an old jukebox with shitty sound but 4 songs for a dollar and buddy miles gets played more than buddy guy.
