Hello,

I have been reading Ralph Peters book "Looking for Trouble" and really like his vivid writing style (almost over the top-but not quite).
He truly has some adventures that a real traveler could relate to.

I also read Paul Theroux (sp) and couldnt stand his style. He is arrogant and boring. I bought three of his books because they sounded great, and am going to give them away.

What are some more good books like "looking for trouble"? I prefer to read an ongoing adventure that has some dark humor...maybe some
adventures involving being somewhere you're not supposed to be, trouble gotten into over a girl or a barfight. A hairy story or stories that is non fiction. I always wished they would make a magazine that had real adventures in them...

cheers!!

Jac

The ridiculous race is one of my favorite travel books. It's about these two guys who race around the world without the use of airplanes and the winner gets a bottle of expensive scotch. It is extremely funny.

As I am not familiar with "Looking for Trouble", I can only try to use your other criteria.

You could try Tim Cahill (the writer, not the footballer), Redmond O'Hanlon, Tony Hawks and, if you like foodie books, Anthony Bourdain ("A Chef's Tour" is great).
