Here's a link to some ancient Thorntree forum posts.... Ah the good old days.

Old Thorn Tree

Fernsie, Schwabbie, tupapau, Downsouth Jonty, tealbluebeach, Bung28... Now those are names I have not heard in a long, long time.

Very nostaligic... Fun to read Raro's posts when he was full of piss and vinegar! ;)

It's too bad one can only look at the postings, though... The responses to them have not been archived.

Bung28 - I remember he had a two/three month vacation in the Cooks (and spent some time with Lord Balfour while there) and we never heard from him again.

Fernsie - she was going to go swimming with the snakes in Nuie like oh, the friend of his name is on the tip of my tongue, the artist who lives there.

Was able to click on a post by Axi, he had already left this branch before I started coming here but I had found posts by him on various French Polynesia boards. Wish I had met him here, he has been to a lot of the outer islands of FP and is an inspiration for me.

Hi There! I'm still around, lurking in the background.
Haven't left Aussi shores since our last trip to Loyalty Islands in November 2005 - and miss the South Pacific soooo much.
We haven't been staying at home though, for the past 18 months, when my work commitments (and grandchildren) allow we've been re-aquainting ourselves with our own country, having spent time in North Queensland & Tasmania.
We leave next Sunday for a sp cruise passing through Vanuatu & Isle of Pines - not quite the style of holiday we are used to, but an opportunity for a little rest & relaxation.
I'm sure I'll once again become a regular poster in the near future - planning a trip to Vanuatu next March, so I will no doubt require some advice from TTers more in the know than I.
Regards, Fernsie.

That would be "Crossie"....

Have not seen him on here for ages, either.

Maybe it's just me but the postings lately seem to have been on different island groups than these guys used to post about.

Kia orana!

Strange or what! First time on the Thorntree for YEARS and there's someone reminiscing about the old days.

Sad to say Downsouth is back Upnorth in London town these days - things got a bit political and my Cooks visa bit the dust. Still miss the crew on Raro - but I'll be back some day.

Actually, anyone got any work going??? Raro?

Ka kite, bros

Jonty,

Ah, the dangers of leaving TT - you've missed out on a "lifestyle opportunity" as well as work! After a lengthy "for sale" process, Raro has sold up, and is now a traveller too.

It's most important that all the Pacificophiles maintain their interest and knowledge - after all, no matter how long the break, we are only temporarily away "between trips", and working on a way to get back!

Cheers,

Rob

Hi guys--
Couldn't boot up any replies on the old TT. But fond memories of Workman etc!!
The piss and vinegar are just on vacation, will surface again sometime....

Don't times change?
Just look at Trader Jacks - 21 years old and on its third incarnation already...

I know that one day I WILL conquer Te Manga - long before they build that cablecar!!!
