Hi---
Just wanted all of you thinking of going to Fiji to know that the "tribewanted" project seems to be a bit shady in their marketing. They have spammers all over the internet trying to market the place. While there do seem to be some honest people who have been there and did like it, what I don't like is the fact they have hired people specifically to market the place over the internet, like "fightinjoe" who has appeared on our branch. Silvanocat has researched the guy, and he is a professional spammer for tribewanted, though he comes across as just an enthusiastic past visitor.
They employ similar tactics, like answering other posts in a general way, but always come back to tribewanted. It seems they even put out their own Q's asking for info about places in Fiji, then they respond to their own post with the tribewanted recommendation. Pretty sleazy!
Regardless of how the place actually is, I would not personally give my business to any operation that employed such seedy and improper tactics, which are edging on fraud.
I urge all of you that are going to Fiji to think twice about supporting a group that uses such shady and underhanded tactics. How else will their lack of ethics rear its ugly head, perhaps when they do not give you what you were promised, or you complain about something, etc.
I wanted to give them a chance ever since I read about them a year ago, but for me that chance is over, they have blown it.
So, it's just my own opinion based on their marketing tactics. Why support sleazebags when there are so many nice and friendly--and honest--- Fiji places where you can spend your buck.

Timeshare sales people the world over are renwoned for being VERY pushy (due to the high commission built into sales.)
That said, I have purchased a timeshare unit , though NOT the one referred to here, (and am very happy with it), but a RESALE ie from another owner (NOT the developer). I paid $1500 v $9000 or so that the developer charged some years earlier.

I replied with a warning to a posting yesterday, which has subsequently been removed. Suspicious practices indeed! A first-time poster coincidentally praising the virtues of 'tribewanted'.
But there is also a very practical reason for avoiding the place. Why bother paying a year's membership which gives you only one week stay, when you can get the same facilities for a similar or lower price at a normal backpacker 'resort', and without the so-called 'membership' committments?
