Hello all. Booked myself a last minute trip to fiji for a couple of weeks time. I'm travelling alone so want to meet people but don't think I could face sleeping in dorms. Any recommendations for accommodation, particularly around pacific harbour? It all seems pretty expensive. Also, I have 2 free nights - Yasawas or Mamanucas? Thanks! D
2 nights is ok for one of the nearby Yasawa or Mamanuca Islands. Unless the resort has its own boat with an afternoon trip, you'd have to stay in Nadi and catch the ferry in the morning. | 1
Octopus does 2 runs a day with their own boat - but at 9am & 1pm. They also have private bungalows that share the dorm facilities. Don't know of any others that have their own boats for guests - the Yasawa Flyer leaves Denarau Marina (Nadi) at 8.30am. You may be able to get a boat to the Mamanucas in the afternoon though. if youve only got a few days dont go too far up the yasawas when the mamanucas will have you relaxing faster than travelling up and back, the dorms are generally ok if they arent big, the more expense but maybe better way for you is to seek out a double beded room with the dorm share facilites. | 3
The islands have the wow factor but at $ and cost of travel time. | 4
The Malolo Cat is a boat that leaves a few times during the day from Denarau including in the avo. It limits your choices of islands to Malolo and Malolo Lailai though, but there are plenty of resorts there. I stayed at Walu Beach - highs and lows. | 5
