I am on my 4th cruise in april and would like to know of a great place for a day trip when we reach Noumea.
I was there once before and to be honest didnt think to much of the place .
My husband and i hired bikes and rode around the city.
now that we have kids can you suggest an adventure we can par take (the boys are 10 years old.)
We are not ones for tours.
We are more independant.

Hi, I am also not a fan of Noumea but on my last visit in Oct 04, I went zip-lining (like flying foxes with harnesses) in a rainforest about an hours drive from town.

I had an awsome time (but only a 1/2 day tour and I wished I could've stayed the whole day). This would probably be an activity you and your boys could all enjoy together, and they would probably rave about it all the way back to Australia.

I posted a link below to P&O's shore tour webpage with more details, but also I found the tour company by googling so you could probably arrange direct with them and it might even be cheaper.

After returning from the tour I walked up into town in the afternoon and practised the french I learned in school by ordering a coffee and chocolate croissant from a patisserie and then went to sit in the own square to watch the men playing boule in the afternoon.

If your boys have learned any french at school, this would be a fun way of actually putting it into practise, and the locals seem to appreciate those who make an effort to speak a little french.

Enjoy,
Kate
