2 Night Stay Is It Worthy?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hello to all

I will be in Australia in late November, and i am considering going to Fiji for a 2 night stay.

The flight price is definitly worthy, but i am not sure if it is time enough to enjoy it, is it worthy ? or should i spend those 2 nights doing something else in my 20 days over Australia.

And where to go ?

I would like to stay in something a litle different (better?) than Queensland coast/Great Barrier/Whitsunday...

Any help would be apreciated.

Thank you all

No.

I much prefer Fiji to Australia, but for just 2 days it's a waste.

Considering the 4 hours flying each way and the need to go thru customs and immigration twice in 2 days - seems not worth it.

Would you suggest that I should visit Portugal for 2 days flying 4 hours to get there?

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies,

In fact it is arriving day one at 2 PM, and departing day three around 3 PM, i understand that this is a tight schedule, but i don't go too often to that part of the world so for me it's an opportunity to get a glimpse of the Fiji Islands (at least one of them).

I will be flying around 22 hours to get to Australia and inside the country a few also...so 4 doesn't seem to much to me but i do get your point Mandja, but if you were "on the way" to somewhere or a 4 hours driving near Portugal i would say, why not?
You will visit just one city or place but In fact if you were coming to Oporto my home city i asure you that can see a lot of it in just 2 days.

Regarding the timeschedule please allow me to rephrase the question, what would be my best option with the itinerary i mentioned before?

Thank you all

my advice is this

take the opportunity if it is there to visit Fiji. You never know when in your life time you will get the opportunity again.

with your very tight schedule I suggest the following.

forget about doing a trip out to the islands off Nadi because most of the day is taken up with travel to the islands and you just dont have the time.

I suggest the following stay at Danny's Village Homestay and experience the real Fijian Culture

arrive Nadi Airport 2PM

catch a bus from the airport to Danny's this will take about 2 hours so by about 6PM at night on your first day you will be in a real Fijian Village

2nd day experience the Fijian culture and lifestyle in the village with trips to local markets, snorkleing in the bay, fishing, school tours etc

3rd day morning in village and then catch a bus back to the Nadi airport for your 3PM flight back to Australia

see pictures of the village here at this link

lots of photos to show you what you can get up to.

hope this helps

Hello Epiri!!

I'm also portuguese and also staying for 2 nights at Fiji(Nadi), could this be problem of our discoveries roots? lol

So... did you get to go to Fiji for 2 nights? What did you choose? What do you recommend?

As I'm arriving 17:00 leaving at 23:50 two days after, I though on staying in Nadi first night and try to get a near island (like Treasure Island) for the second night....

Any comments from you guys?

Hi there Pablomoises,

I will not go to Fiji, due to the high price of the flight, when i started to search for flights it was in fact very cheap but then began to rise...And for just two days it was not worth it anymore, so i will spend those days around Australia, i am pretty sure i will enjoy them as well.

Abraço
Epiri

Hi Epiri,
If you have time while you are in Australia, you will get a good island experience by going to the Whitsundays, without having to go through customs, etc.
