Hi all. I am an experienced australian skipper.
I am taking my 38 foot sailing yacht to Oz in a couple of weeks and my crew has had to head off earlier for work comitments so I am looking for crew for the passage. It should take 2-3 weeks with a possible stop in new caledonia for fuel.
This leg completes the trip from the states which we started in january. I plan a nice easy trip with some nice fishing and warm nights.
If your available please contact me on 679) 908 6018 or email me rushweek at…
I read this on the internet:
Ive been to Tahiti 7 times and Fiji 12, 20 times to the South Pacific overall. I have
carried on a love affair with the region since 1980, the 430 days i spent there
have allowed me to form very strong and passionate opinions. Here goes.
The Society Islands (Tahiti) are the most dramatically beautiful island chain
I have seen. Bora Bora takes top prize folowed by Moorea and Tahiti itself if one
can overlook Papeete. The islands interior mountains are breathtaking and…
I used to be a frequent contributor to this site but can't seem to access it under my old username.
Anyway I have made an out of character, impulsive decision to go to either Fiji or Vanuatu TOMORROW (due to costs and flight & accommodation availability I have narrowed it down to these).
I have been to Vanuatu before for only about 6 hours and loved it. Am wondering which place is better for someone who wants to meet people (especially locals), wants to see the culture and relax a bit. I can't…
My girlfriend and I recently decided that we wanted to go to Fiji, in May 2010. I understand the cost is quite high, and their isn't an awful lot of time between now and then to raise a massive amount of money to fund a grandiose, extravagant holiday. But that's alright with us, we just want o trip around there for a few weeks. Anyway, I'm wondering if a) anybody thinks we are nuts for thinking we can make this happen ? or b) how easy is it to find cheap accomodations over there ? Once there…
We are planning a holiday in Fiji in Sept/Oct 2010 with out two girls 8 & 10. We have been staggered by how expensive independent travel is (well, compared to the developing nations we visited pre children). We're finding it difficult when multiplying by 4 and navigating between pricey resorts.
So far I've identified family (and budget) friendly options; the Beachouse for a week, maybe Tubakula Bungalows, a homestay (Danny's ?) and a resort stay like Plantation or Naviti (cheap packages in…
My husband and I are planning our 10th anniversary trip to Fiji next year for 10 days in early November. We're leaning toward 5 days in the Yasawas and a few days in Taveuni. We don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of a busy town, but can't be completely remote either due to my limited mobility. I walk with a cane due to painful arthritis in my feet. We're 30, so we're past being interested in the college party islands but not wanting to restrict ourselves to senior citizen activities…
Wow – What an awesome experience.
I want to go back – soon. I didn’t want to spend all my time in a 4 or 5 star resort, - I wanted to find the real Fiji.
I found the website fijihomestays.com and explained to them what I wanted to do and they organized a stay for me at two villages.
From the resort after a couple of days of unwinding - I was picked up and taken to Denerau Marina and then taken on about a 5.5 hour boat ride to a village in the Yasawa’s.
The website warned me that this home…
Might be moving to Lautoka Fiji for 2 years in March/April 2010.
Margaret & I will need somewhere to live.....
Mobile 'phone, internet, ......
Really looking forward to the experiences and the challenges.
Any advise gratefully accepted....
Cheers,
Peter
My wife and I (late 20's) are considering flying to Fiji in early January. We may travel around Indonesia, Australia, or elsewhere from there, or we may stay in Fiji for a while.
We love tropical places, and we've been to Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil (Floripa so maybe sub-tropical), Mexico, Hawaii, and Australia (no further north than the Whitsundays though so not really tropical). How does Fiji compare to these places as far as the vibe from the people, the beach, the jungle, and the ocean?
I…
Hi
Looking for opinions/thoughts. I am taking a sabbatical next year and looking at coming to fiji to do some volunteer work with my family (2 adults 2 kids)
The place we have found to work at is in nadi/namaka. Trying to decide if we should work in fiji 2months or 5-6 months, splitting the rest of the time with new zealand and micronesia. I have spent 3-4 months in new zealand (20 years ago) but now with family trying to sort out the best option. Would like to enroll kids in school and rent…
