Hi All

I'm flying to Nadi on 30th Dec and staying in Fiji for 10 days. Since I'm traveling solo I'm not interested in resorts full of couples and families and too old (45) for Beachcomber etc. I prefer to find an area that is not too over run with tourists but a few travelers around is always good.

So I was thinking of spending my time in Vanua Levu. I thought I'd fly to Savusavu (not enough time to go by boat) and spend new years eve there (not looking for big NYE parties) and just travel around from there.

My questions are:

1) Is it easy to get around on buses? I don't want to hire a 4WD or car but ok with a scooter, if the roads are suitable.

2) Is it easy to get accommodation at that time of year without booking. Not particular re accommodation, except it be clean.

3) I've read about things to do/see but any tips or info is always appreciated.

4) My heart isn't set on Vanua Levu so any info on another area of Fiji that might be as interesting (keeping in mind my first paragraph!).

Thanks.

dont go to savusavu for NY~! its too small and any, uhum, 'resorts' there are generally bare bones, unles sy you stay at the Custoes (the diving bloke Jacques, son) which is 5 star and expensive, but very good. just go where the others mostly go mamanucas or yasawas, do some more research as your impressions of these are incorrect to what you will find them to be.
