Solo Backpacker Needs Fiji Advice

So I'm 25 year old female backpacking solo for a week in Fiji.

I want:
to meet people
see the sights
enjoy the beach

I enjoy:
adventure activity
live music/entertainment
organized games

I've looked into both Awesome Adventures Fiji and Feejee Experience. I've done some backpacking but never with a tour company. I'm considering it for this week due to the time restraints, the fact I'm coming at the beginning of December which seems to be booking fast and that I will be travelling solo.

Is this the best way for me to get what I want out of my trip?
Any advice on which package I should look into?
Or are there resorts that I should book individually and make my own tour? After reading about so many they are all starting to sound the same and the only one I've really read some fun reviews about is Beachcomber (which is booked full already).

I'd appreciate any advice you could offer.

AFAIK, Awesome Adventures is not a tour company as such, they just do transport and/or accommodation packages around the Yasawa Islands. You can select your accommodation as listed in the combo pass or you can choose to book your own. The Islands have the best beaches and coral, and many places in the Islands are very social. Some places organise activities better than others. Octopus was pretty good at this. Also, have you contacted Beachcomber directly to confirm availabilty?

Hitting up the Waya & Yasawa islands with Awesome Adventures would be up your alley. Just book transport with them - arrange accommodation yourself. Wayalailai, Manta Ray, Octopus, and Blue Lagoon are all good spots to stay and very different from one another.

With how cheap and efficient public bus travel is on Fiji, I can't understand spending a fortune on the Feejee Experience. If you're sticking to the mainland, then just do it completely solo using public transport, and you'll meet plenty of people (locals and travelers) along the way.

Donuts? I told you I don't like ethnic food!

Hi there

Great to hear you are off to Fiji - you'll have a blast! I am part of Awesome Adventures and can let you know the Yasawa Islands are absolutely beautiful. It's well worth getting off the mainland to explore the islands. As Mike mentioned, wIth the Bula Combo pass you can guarantee your transport and choose accommodation enroute. You do get the freedom to explore the islands when you want to explore them but you also run the risk of some of the resorts being full. To guarantee a bed every night and travel with a bunch of people who are more than likely up for a party, I recommend something like the Beach Bum package. You get to stay at a couple of party spots including Beachcomber as mentioned, experience a sailing trip and go snorkeling, diving or laze around with a cocktail on the beach

If you do decide to arrange your own accommodation, I agree with tch7 - Wayalailai, Manta Ray, Octopus, and Blue Lagoon are all good spots to stay. Wayalailai has a particularly good reef, perfect for snorkeling and if you are interested in diving, or learning how to dive, Manta Ray is a good spot.

Hope this was of some help - you're bound to have an amazing time whether you decide to stay on the mainland or visit the Yasawas. It's hard not to.
