Hi all,

I am flying through Figi on my way to Chicago (via LA) from New Zealand in about two weeks, and am fairly ignorant as to what its all about. My research so far suggests excellent diving and coral exploration opportunities abound, which sounds great but it would be good to hear some more from those with more intricate knowledge of the place.

If you could englighten me then that would be fantastic. Either via a private message or on here would be great.

Thanks very much, and I look forward to hearing the wisdom that you have to offer.

Yours,

Henry.

I suggest you research Fiji on the main site, and by searching the forum first, then ask more specific questions here. Fiji is probably the most common destination discussed on this branch.
And, by the way, it is FiJi, not FiGi - maybe that is why you are having trouble finding out about it.

It very much depends what you want to do! The yasawas are beautiful islands with great resort/beaches - my favourite is Octopus resort on Waya. For Fijian culture I'd go to Vorovoro island off Labasa (www.tribewanted.com). Taveuni is know for surfing and diving. The coral coast, particularly Pacific Harbour have good dives (including shark dives) but in my opinion that not such a great area above the surface etc etc

Oh no! Not another advertisement for Tribe wanted. I'd definitely avoid that if I was the OP. Definitely NOT the real thing.
