I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on travel from Aus to NZ...and then back again.
1. What is the best option for transport? plane, boat?
2. where is the cheapest/closest area to leave from? (melbourne, sydney, brisbane?)

Which hotel card is more valuable and useful to have, a BBH or YHA? Which one will provide me with more opportunities to save money? Any advantages or disadvantages to either card? Also, is the ISIC card really worth purchasing? I went to NZ a few years ago and found that the ISIC card didn't provide me enough discounts to pay for itself. I will be going to NZ for 2 months this time around.

Been pondering a couple of questions about my travel to NZ and am wondering what advice you would suggest. Am thinking too much about this and thus can't some to a decision!

Does anyone know the names of any tour companies that run tours that depart from Sydney? Day tours or long tours. Not interested in big tourist bus tours, just smaller ones targeted at backpackers and independent travellers... any suggestions?

We're 4 -two adults & 2 kids- looking for 2 bedroom serviced apartment/3-4 star hotel to stay in Sept for 2 nights.

We are looking for a couple to join us on a four day tour of Fraser Island from 20th - 23rd Feb. what is kiwi food? is there such a thing? im in new zealand now and see a lot of ethnic eatries, etc. is there something that is kiwi that i should definitely try?

in new zealand now and bought some chocolates to bring back home with me to the states. i leave new zealand to go to sydney for one day to catch my flight out of sydney back to the states. will they confiscate the chocolates? some of them have macadamian nuts, hazel nutes, fruits and nuts in them. is aussie immigration that anal? is this something tha tyou have to declare upon arrival?

i heard that the airport tax is not included when you leave new zealand? is this true and how much is it? do they accept credit cards? thanks
