Hi all,
I'm usually great for getting bargains and nabbing the "dirt-cheap" flight. But when a friend asked me to find her a UK-BKK-AUCKLAND-TOYKO-UK flight I thought it would be a piece of cake, considering those are all major airports, but the lowest I could get was £1207 which is extortionate in my openion. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong, all of the multi-stops and RTW travellers I've met only paid about £480, anyone wanting to shine some light on the subject? Would really appreciate…
I will be looking to settle in either Sydney or Melbourne in May for a few months. Which of these places is best to live taking into consideration:
a) work availability for WHVers
b) general atmosphere and lifestyle
c) weather!
Thanks
Hi
I'm arriving in Australia in a little over 3 weeks and am sorting out my travel insurance at the moment. One of the conditions of the insurance of most places is that i register with Medicare in Australia to cover my medical treatments whilst there. Can anyone tell me:
a)what it actually is?
b)what i have to do to become registered?
c)does it cost anything?
d)how long does it take?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Yes, very sad, and a real worry. Did you register on Thorntree just to bring us this information, or do you have another set of aspirations in doing so? Do you have a travel quesiton perhaps?

Hey,
A friend and I (both 18) are looking to spend 3 weeks travelling down the East coast from Cairns/Brisbane to Melbourne and the end of this year. One of us will have had a UK drivers license for over a year and one of us only for a few months. Does anyone know if it is going to be possible for us to buy or hire a car? Indeed is it even worth it-should we just stick to public transport instead?
Cheers
Hi there,back for more advice!
Living and working in Welly and finally have a few days off over Easter so trying to get to Waitomo and Hamilton. The plan was travel to Hamilton on Friday and stay there a night, go to Waitomo and do the caves etc on the Saturday and stay the night, then back to Hamilton and home to Welly on the Sunday.
However the price of transport seems a bit colossal compared with my puny wages. The naked bus is booked out and it seems with intercity we're looking at over 200…
I don't think I'll get an objective answer to this on the Canada branch, but I'm thinking of going there for a 2.5 week driving holiday.
