Hi, I am hoping to go to New Zealand later this year and thinking of getting the train 7 day flexi pass, that lets me stop off where ever I want on the journey. Has anyone done this and do the trains run daily and are they worth it? thanks

Timetables for the trains is on their website, so that will tell you when they run. Only you can decide if travelling on the three trains we offer is "worth it", although if you're planning to travel all three trains in one seven day period, it doesn't actually give you very much time to do anything.

The only train in the North Island only runs straight down the middle of the island so extra time would need to be allowed if you wanted to visit places off that route.

Off-season, the Overlander from Auckland to Wellington runs Fri, Sat, Sun, in season it runs daily. The two south island trains run daily year round.

See www.tranz-scenic.co.nz

The pass saves money over a trip on all 3 trains within 7 days, for just two trains ordinary tickets are better. I know, 'cos I've just booked two passes myself for May.!
