#52 kurgan - I know, I know that was an over the top remark.

I know that trained dogs protect NZ's borders from people bringing in drugs or food.

I know that we have dogs in NZ especially trained to track Kiwis as part of the protection programme. Mind you, they now wear muzzles as one got over-enthusiastic and reduced the kiwi population by one!

Your link to dogs protecting penguins reminded me that there is a breed of dog that is used in Europe to protect herds of goats. Someone here was going to breed them for something similar, I think.

I also know that dogs are used in search and rescue in the mountains, etc etc.

Mea culpa, mea culpa - I recant.

But I'm still a cat person!

#53, my Dad used to throw the rabbits our cat killed over the back fence, and I only ever saw bones afterwards. There was a paddock over the back fence by the way, he wasn't raining corpses on the neighbours.

sare LOL - the lithgow puma is alive and well in the imaginations of many like your neighbour: you should give him the dvd 'in the winter dark' for christmas. or the novel, i guess, but the movie version's creepier.
