Hi Guys | ||
Not specific, but Far North and Coromandel. | 1
Agree with #1. Far North has some fantastic places. Look at the DOC campgrounds (Tunutunu, Matai Bay). A few places up 90mile beach, try your luck. Coromandel is also wonderful, more rugged. Check the websites though for availabilty as the official grounds get crowded. Freedom camping requires discretness. Top 10 campgrounds offer good facilities, but also get crowded. | 2
Thanks for the DOC hint. they have some great places. | 3
Coromandel Peninsula is a must - we drove pretty much around the whole coastline and it's stunning. Bowentown Beach Holiday Park (at the bottom of Coromandel Peninsula, heading towards Tauranga) is lovely - right on Waihi Beach. Bay of Islands Holiday Park near Paihia is also good - set in woodland next to a river. | 4
