| billythefish04:39 UTC22 Sep 2007 | At what age do young Kiwis start adventure sports....is it part of the school curriculum?
Would like to know out of interest if there are any that just sit around eating Ben and Jerry's watching TV, getting lardy....... ?
many thanks

i laughed at your post. and then realised that I went caving at 11 (is that an adventure sport) and on a big swing and some white water rafting at some point in early high school!!!

| andybox09:49 UTC22 Sep 2007 | Ive been riding the waves on some sort of surf craft for well over 30 years. Have surfed most of Australia, France, Indonesia and Britain. I hate adventure sports by the way, but Ben abd Jerrys is divine...

For the robotic, personallity-free amounst us: New Zealand is famous for people jumping off things, surfing things, climbing things and god knows what else that would risk their life in search of adventure and make them a better person for it!
PS. I am not a salad-dodger myself, far from it!

| saoghalbeag20:09 UTC23 Sep 2007 | It might just be their tourism advertising, but I have wondered this myself - they are so outdoorsy, aren't they? And I've never met a Kiwi who wasn't into being active - even the lardy ones!! I think it is endearing and I am thinking of moving over there for a stint next year. Incidentally one of the subconscious reasons for heading to NZ was to develop a more active lifestyle and I have this perception that I am most likely to find it there.

| billythefish20:17 UTC23 Sep 2007 | Hopefully NZ will never fill up with deadbeats and selfish people like the UK these days......harsh but very true! I try not to say I like NZ without going there, but have met Kiwis and find them pretty sound!
Here is slightly cruel joke I heard whilst in OZ: What do you call an educated Australian.........A New Zealander!

| nerb21:44 UTC23 Sep 2007 | it's only cruel if your audience was expecting something funny Billy actually, you don't see too many Maori swinging about on bungy ropes and the like

| timo06:09 UTC29 Sep 2007 | #11 you'll find it here for sure. Never fails to amaze me how much people can squeeze in. And yet there are more fast-food joints in every town, however small, than possibly anywhere else in the world, except Australia.
Even when they are relaxing, they keep busy! Watch them go on holiday - with a trailer, boat, boards, BBQ's, bikes, kayaks and christ knows what else. It is a nation of early risers - you won't find many Kiwi's laying in bed in the morning. Too much to do!
