Perth area while staying in Fremantle for 3 nightsCountry forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia
We have a week to explore a little of West Australia. We are staying 3 nights in Fremantle and were thinking 3 nights in Margaret River area. Last night at a hotel near the airport. We have a car rented and our flight out is early so the airport is the safest bet for us. Any suggestions of "what not to miss"? We are senior travelers who love to travel and explore.
To some extent depends when you are coming. If it's December through to say April it's likely to be too hot to go inland or north of Perth so the South West by default. Depending on where you are from you may find distances an issue. It's about 3 hours from Perth to the Margaret River region with not a lot in between but once you are in the South West, vineyards (with generally excellent restaurants) and tall timber abound. 3 nights in Freo (which as a local I think is one of the least interesting port cities anywhere in the world) may be a little too much. the jail tour along with MINT tour are musts. | 2
