Hi all
So I'm planning to move to NZ early next year for a couple of years after the sale of my house completes. I'll plan to do a bit of travelling for a month or so then settle somewhere to find some work. I don't have a trade as such but a lot of office experience especially in financial services but I'm happy to have a go at anything.
I'm posting this to really get any advice that I can take with me when I do finally go over, best place to base myself, will it be easy to find some accommodation and hopefully to make a few friends on here I'm a 26 year old guy from the UK, I've spent some time in Asia a few years ago so I'm used to living abroad but I'm a little nervous about chucking myself at the deep end in a country where I don't know anybody.? Any advice will be appreciated Thanks guys

For most people coming to NZ, Auckland is the first place they think of. It might be the largest city with best chance of work but it is also the most expensive in terms of daily cost of living.
But to give you some idea of things, have a look at the on line web site, Trade Me. Covers everything and is the most popular site for NZers.

Hey Luke,

Check this website out: http://www.workingholidaystarter.com/. They really helped me out when I did my Working Holiday. Even if you're not planning on buying something from them, the website is loaded with tips & tricks.

Where to base yourself really depends on what you want/ prefere. Like westwood said: a lot of people choose Auckland. I wasn't a big fan and based myself in Wellington. Absolutely loved this city! If you have some labouring skills, I suggest going to Christchurch.

I also did a lot of woofing, which I can only recommend. You really get in touch with the locals and I ended up in nice places I wouldn't have visited otherwise doing things I never did. Good times!

Don't be too stressed about it. You will notice the Kiwis are very welcoming and I'm sure you'll love NZ!

Best of luck!
