What's the baggage allowance on domestic flights?

1kg

1

Jetsaver fare

or

Jetflex fare

2

Jetstar baggage

20kg checkin and 7kg hand luggage.

They are picky and will charge you even for a kg over.

3

Thanks... how much per extra kilo?

Just read the bloody link that #3 has kindly provided!

Interesting point to note also is that Jetstar allow the baggage allowance appropriate to the Qantas flight you've just come off - if - you're doing a Jetstar flight at the end of an international leg and you're booked through to a domestic destination eg. LA via Honolulu to Sydney and Byron Bay.
So then you get the Qantas US allowance of 34kg(?) x 2 per person all the way through.

6

Jetstar may do that (affiliation), but Virgin Blue doesn't, so it is really important for international travellers to keep to the 20 kg limit on their check-in bags. Mind you, who wants to lug around 34 kgs anyway?

7

oh, sorry - just noticed that the OP is inquiring about Jetstar. Oh well, still good

#7 Well no one really wants to carry it all but we had 80kg of luggage between 3 of us recently after a skiing trip and it was very handy to know that to avoid the charges on 20kg of excess - Jetstar didn't know either!

(I checked and the allowance is actually 32kg x 2 PER PERSON on those flights which is why you always see all those Americans in the line with so much gear).

I was 2 kg over on a Jetstar flight from Byron to Sydney...didn't get charged. I think it depends how early you check in, how full the flight is and whether the check in staff member is having a good day!
