Jetstar and POLI paymetCountry forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia
So, last Friday I bought a ticket on Jetstar and paid for it using POLI. Something I have done often the past couple of years and no problems. Anyhow, at the final click of the payment process the system fell over. My bank account now shows I have paid Jetstar, Jetstar say I havent paid them and my ticket is on hold pending payment. When I rang Jetstar they said they cant issue the ticket till they get the money. ANZ Bank say their system shows I have paid Jetstar and its nothing to do with them. Does this mean I'm stuffed?
What's POLI? Can't you ask them? | 1
POLi is Australia's leading real-time online debit payment method. It offers a secure alternative to PayPal, BPAY and credit cards. It belongs to Australia Post. I'll be on to them tomorrow. | 2
you can contact POLI direct - google them and you'll get support details | 3
I have now talked to ANZ bank, Jetstar and have emailed POLI. We shall wait and see............ | 4
Ahhh it's associated with Australia Post!! I see their retail expertise more aligned to running a $2 shop rather than retail financial services!! I'll be on to them tomorrow. If it's like our post office there will 20 people in the queue out the door and onto the street. | 5
Merco Limited is the main distributor for POLi in NZ. So I don't know how that ties in with Australia Post. | 6
POLi is owned by Aust Post - in NZ they (Aust Post) use Merco (I assume cause Aust Post itself not present in NZ?) -- on another note a lot of banks in Aust and NZ advise against using POLI as its considered insecure and almost impossible to reverse transactions. | 7
I'm not sure why anyone needs to use POLI (or PayPal) if the payee is a merchant with credit card facilities ... just use a credit card if there are no fees, or a debit card or BPay if there are fees. And I really can't abide all these brands that muck around with capitals in mid-word and starting with lower case. I blame sTeve jObs. | 8
You cannot use credit card with Jetstar as they charge a fee. Same with Paypal. There is no fee with Poli. I could also use Direct Deposit also with no fee. Anyhow, Poli have replied to my email send 9pm last nights and asked for a transaction number I didnt include in original email. So they are following it up. . | 9
Poli now advise- *If these funds have left your bank account, they'd be in the Jetstar bank account. How about I email them for you, ask them to locate the funds and issue the ticket to you?* | 10
You're being blinded by sheer brilliance! What a great country! | 11
I expect that you may need to get a statement from ANZ stating that funds have been withdrawn/forwarded ( towards the correct recipient hopefully ), one also from POLI saying likewise and hopefully from both or just POLI to show a tracking number if that is how their system works and then front the airline. | 12
Yep, sure is and it coud be free beers all around courtesy of Raki being wracked. | 13
if you have lost your seats by the time they find your payment, they will refund the money for you. If you have purchased sale seats - tough luck you lose, been there done that with them. Ian - POLI doesn't have the horrible inflated charges associated with it as does credit card/paypal do. Can you still direct debit with them? Just wondering why I would go thru the hassle of POLI if I could just DD. | 14
You can actually DD them. | 15
I use poli when I fly Virgin, I have a debit card and have found it very good, only trouble its only available if you book in Australia, so when booking a flight from Fiji to Aus I have to pay the card charges. | 16
Jetstar now tell me that my payment has been received, but it is 'unverified'. Once it is 'verified', whatever that means, I will get my ticket. | 17
Ticket received- and a $25 hotel voucher. | 18
well done -wow what an effort - did POLi offer any explanation? | 19
It had something to do with the POLi website falling over when I was just about to press the Finish or Confirm button. The POLi system picked up that I was paying Jetstar and transferred the money, but my details did not transfer. As a result my money went into the Jetstar bank account but was not attached to my ticket. | 20
maybe POLI use same software as ABS does for census :-) | 21
How does the fee stop you using a credit card? I use one every time I book with Jetstar or anyone else for that matter and just suck up the small fee. I know the fare quoted on their booking site is going to grow once I add baggage etc - the fee is just another extra. How much was the drama with POLi worth? | 22
So- I have just bought three tickets on Jetstar in the Club Jetstar sale using POLi. POLi worked fine- different screens and easier to use. Oooh- and Jetstar have sent me three hotel vouchers worth $75. Thats not bad, spend $205 on air tickets and get hotel vouchers which work on Expedia worth $75. Jetstar try to con you into thinking you can only use the hotel voucher in the place you fly to. However, you just change the place and date and you can book anywhere in the world at any date you want! | 23
was NVG, it doesn't stop you from using a credit card - I think Raki was actually meaning he will not use a credit card because of the fee attached. Though those fees are/have been abolished and we will all be paying some kind of booking fee in place of it. I use POLI and don't have a problem with it, computers glitch now and then and how we lost a good sale price with Jetstar a few years back. Before the days of POLI and being able to DD, after that hic cup went back to credit card paying as you get instance confirmation. Now days I use POLI but if the charges are going to be the same regardless of payment type I will go back to CC, for me a better paper trial. | 24
I dislike paying $8.50 for a booking using credit card when its free using some form of bank transfer. | 25
And besides it worked out quite well for you raki! Well done. | 26
