Indulgent Long Weekend

Country forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia

I am planning a long weekend in the end of July for 2 couples and 1 child and would like to head coastal victoria not too far from Melbourne. We are looking for a modern 3 bedroom with house with a sea view, short stroll to restaraunts, and an outdoor jacuzzi. Does anybody know of a place that fits these categories, I have searched alot of websites so far, have come up with some really nice places not with a Jacuzzi.

Unfortunately many rental places in Victoria that have a jacuzzi or spa are tending to not make it available at the present time, due to the water restrictions in place.
I've stayed in a couple of places this year when that's been the case.

1

okay was going to suggest Daylesford but you would miss the seaviews by a few hundred miles.

Yes, water restrictions have caused a few problems - maybe look in the area of Apollo Bay/Warrnambool/Port Fairy no restrictions down that way.

Yes Sugoi, there may not be restrictions down there, but I wouldn't say they fit the category of NOT TOO FAR FROM MELBOURNE.

I would have thought at least a 3 hour drive.

Can I suggest Sorrento on the Mornington Penisula as a great spot for a weekend. Ocean and bayside options. The Sorrento village has a nice atmosphere with a range of places to eat and some good shopping options for the girls (so my wife says!) Lots of things to do and places to walk - seal/dolphin watching, a ferry ride across to Queenscliff etc

Re renting. Most of the local real estate agents also handle casual renting. A couple of the local agents from memory - Prentice, Kay and Burton, Briggs Shaw - try a Google

you could also try stayz.com.au

this site deals more with holiday homes etc..

Mornington Peninsula is definitely great area to go to, might not be the greatest weather but it's nice no matter what the season.

If you're willing to go a bit further, there's Philip Island, Wilson's Prom, or anywhere along the Great Ocean Road. Check out the RACV website for travel directions/approx travel times
