Hey,

I'am travelling to Australia on March 4 - April 7 and arrive in Sydney. How should i plan my trip according to weather while staying on the southeast side of Australia. Should i buy a bus or trail pass. Anything else fun in Sydney

I greatly appreciate comments or other ideas.

Do you plan to stay south of Sydney? If so, you could buy a bus-pass and travel the coast to Melbourne, go over to Tasmania for a week, and then return to Sydney. Weather should be pretty good - late summer and autumn - and you don't clash with any school holidays except Victoria (starting 31 March). So five days Sydney, five days Melbourne, a week in Tasmania, and the balance on the road. Canberra is worth a visit too, as are the Snowy Mountains, but not sure of public transport service. Have a look at the Greyhound Australia route map.

Weather won't be hugely variable over that range for that time, although Tasmania may be 5-10C cooler. If oyu want "guaranteed" beach weather, you need to head ot Northern NSW or SE Queensland, if you consider those to be within "the southeast side of Australia".

we really dont have weather any more. havent you noticed ?

anything that might have been just isnt predictable so assume it will be everything...

fun in sydney. ... my tip is...

stay in manly - find a backpackers or whatever your style is... its fun, a neat ferry ride away, on the beach and if theres any semblance of old weather patterns, it will still be warm for swimming.

if you arrive by plane, take the train from the airport ( cheapest and fastest) to circular quay - then take a ferry from there to manly - a great introduction to sydney - you will be spat out of the train station into the arms of the harbour, opera house and bridge and have a neat intro to the lay out of the place ... as you cruise into manly.

dont forget to go to the organic food co-op in manly

i also agree with ianw

I also agree that Manly is a good place to stay, and a bonus for swimming if the weather is warm (which it should be). As close to the city in travel time as Bondi is - and the ferry is a great trip. Weather patterns are unpredictable for sure.
