Flying into Sydney on April 22nd from US. Whats Next?

Country forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia

Looking for some advice on what do and where to go once I arrive in Sydney. I eventually want to travel the country probably heading north to Darwin for the the warmer weather. Wondering if anyone has made the trip over in April/May and could shed some light and give tips as to what to do.

Looking really forward to the trip. Appreciate the response.

Sydney is HUGE and heaps to do there and in surrounds; you need to be more specific - what are your interests, what sort of budget do you have; will you be hiring cars or using public transport - that sort of thing

There is a mass of material available on this website and elsewhere on the internet to give you some ideas. What have you found so far? And why did you decide to go to Australia in the first place?

Apply for the right visa to suit your situation.
ETA is best, allows you a stay of 3 months per go, and then at the end of 3 months, you go out and come back, but after the 2nd or 3rd, they will probably start asking a lot of questions.
Though, if you get a Tourist/Visitors Visa, and can provide proof of support of asked you can stay 3/6/9/12 months without leaving.
OR a W&HV.
NOT advisable to work on the cheapest Australian visa, which does not allow cash remunerated work.

Sydney in April to May will start to get a bit cooler, maybe a few days in the city centre, / center, and then up to the Blue Mountains, then maybe Canberra and in June up into the Snow flields, then onto Queensland, Great Barrier Reef, Uluru/(Ayers), Darwin, this should all possible with Greyhound, by the time you get up to Darwin, it would be July.
