We've now booked our internal flights, and the motor home (plus accommodation for the nights when we don't have it), and my next question is regarding the necessity to book any of the other stuff we might do on the south island...

We're looking to visit Milford sound, do some winery visits around queenstown-wanaka, take a trip up franz josef and one to abel tasman, and go whale…

Me and 3 friends are travelling to NZ for 1 1/2 month in january...weve never been there and dont know anyone over there, if anyone could give us some "general" info on places to go & places not to go to,excursions,transport,activities,etc
We are travelling from Ibiza,and as its going to be a looooooong journey we kinda want to make the most of our time and go to the best places, so any bit of info would be great!!!

I'm a uni student looking to work for around 3months in our summer break and have my heart set on Golden Bay, Picton, Nelson, somewhere warm and a change of scenery in general as am tired of the city. If we will be doing some walking along trails in some of the national forests on the north island, can we get by with good walking shoes, or do we need boots? I realize it depends on a lot of things, but in general, will it be warm and dry enough for Nikes or something like that?

We will be in New Zealand from Nov. 22 until Dec. 1.

I am trying to figure out driving routes, distances, and times for my trip. I found three sites and could use some help discriminating between them and figuring out what really are the best driving routes and actual time estimates.

The NZ Tourism Site lists distances between major towns and selected small town. Not all destinations are available and only the largest roads are used to determine routes.

I wish to visit New Zealand but don't know when. Would some give following information.
A) Best weather or season to visit New Zealand.
B) I am more interested in the country side but of course, Welington, Dunedin, Christchurch and other are also going to be part of the
visiting places. Therefore, I would like to know places from North to South with cheap accommdoation, lodges or bed and breakfast

There are a couple restaurants on the upper levels of the sky tower... has anyone been there recently? My memory of it was not so much the food, but the view... and even more so, the fact that it cost $18 to go to the observation deck or spend $25 minimum at one of the restaurants. Can anyone give feedback on the prices/options now?
