Can someone please suggest somewhere to stay between Te Anua and Dunedin. We don't really want to have a huge drive and go straight through. Any really nice sheep farm B&B's?? Thanks

I'm heading to New Zealand from Sydney to Christchurch for the first time ever this December (Dec 18) and will stay there for about 6 weeks. I had a few questions which I have included below:

  1. Do I need an onward/return plane ticket when I enter New Zealand or is proof of funds/bank statement enough?

  2. Where is a good place to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve on the South Island?

  3. Will most of the sights/attractions be closed during the holiday period?

Thanks so…

After much searching, we are considering renting from Adventure Motorhomes, a 4.7 m diesel Toyota 2/3 berth, for pickup in Christchurch and drop off in Auckland. We like dealing with small companies, but this one has been very slow in their responses to our questions, and we wonder if anyone has had experience dealing with this company? We would welcome any positive/negative comments. Thanks!

Hi all together!
I'm flying next year in the easter holidays to New Zealand with my uncle. We'll stay in Rotorua for two weeks. Now is my question to you, what we can do there in these two weeks?
It never minds of the distance. We'll find a way to get there.
I'm happy about all your answers.
(Sorry about my bad English. I'm a German and I'm still learning English in school. ;-))
Thanks!

Hi there,

I had a stopover in beautiful Auckland, New Zealand for my trip to Australia in 2004.

I took the explorer bus covering many interesting sights in the city, including the Auckland Museum and the Auckland Zoo. The Maori artefacts in the Auckland Museum were especially impressive. The waterfront of Auckland is beautiful.

Please have a look at the photos:

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times before but I can't seem to find any answers! I am going to be in the North Island for two weeks in January, arriving into Wellington and leaving from Auckland. I am keen to walk the Tongariro Crossing and to go to Rotorua. Can anyone recommend others places I should visit? I will be travelling by bus. Also, I am a keen diver so would be interested in doing some diving as some point if anyone can recommend a good spot

Thanks,
Lesley

I'll be in NZ for the month of February. I've never been but I'll be traveling with my boyfriend who lived in Auckland many moons ago.

While we'll be doing some touristy stuff and relaxing a bit, we also would like to venture out in nature and/or get our hands dirty for a good cause.

Has anyone had a good experience or know of any ecotravels?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi there everyone. If been skimming these forums or many months now and they have helped me a lot but I would like to know people’s opinions on my non-finalised Itinerary – i.e the places I’m visiting the time I’m spending at each place - really I’m looking for recommendations - especially for my time in Auckland - I've allowed two days but would 1 be enough to see the main things and hence use the extra day for a day trip or something?

Iâve chosen Stray Buses as my main form of…

Hi,

I am planning to travel to NZealand in January and want to ask some experienced trampers some recommendations of walks where you can walk to a hut, drop your backpacks and then take on day walks. The reason being, four of my family are experienced and enthusiastic bushwalkers, but the 16 and 9 year old, are not so keen on 4-5-6 day/overnight tramps. Can you please help??

Hi,

We will be in Wellington for Christmas day and are wanting suggestions on what to do, specifically somewhere nice to have lunch. We will have a car so don't mind travelling an hour or so to get somewhere.

Thanks!
