Hi

I'm planning to apply for a NZ working visa and head out around October. At first I hope to find a workaway program to help on but after that I'd look for some part time bar work to support travel. Does any one know how easy or difficult it is to find bar work in major NZ cities? Especially if you are on a working holiday visa?

many thanks

I will be based in Queenstown, taking a day trip to Cromwell and return in the sam day means I will hsve 6 hours in Cromwell and a day spent, how will you spend 6 hours there ? Is it worth thr trip ?
I only find the Bannockburn Walk but that looks like just 2 hours activity. What to do with another 4 hours ? Are there many cafes to kill time ?

I'm considering a road trip on the West Coast Road 6 from top to bottom in mid-March to early April, and I'm wondering, what are road conditions like in terms of snow and ice hazards, if any? Also, since I'd be hiring a car in Queenstown, same question regarding driving over the mountain passes to get to and from the West Coast Road 6? Thanks.

Hi all,

Me and my boyfriend are planning a 3 week trip to New Zealand as it has been our dream for a long time and it took us a while to gather money. We live in Estonia (East-Nord Europe).

The problem is that the only time we can both leave our works for a longer period is around Christmas. Which will mean that we could travel around NZ from ~ 20th of December to 10th of January. We plan to hire a campervan and travel around with it.

But we are a little uncertain about the whole idea of…

Hey

I am an American looking for information about getting a working holiday visa to NZ although I have a recent DUI. I want to go as soon as I have finished my probation. Will having a DUI prevent me from getting a 12 month work visa for New Zealand?? As far as I can read about the terms you will be denied if you have been to prison for 5 years or more, which does not apply to me. Any info on the subject would be great.

Thanks :)

Hi all,

I just got enough saved for a solo trip to NZ, but I only have two specific times available:

1: March 1st through 20th (~18 full days)

or

2: April 22nd through May 15th (~22 full days)

I want to go this year, as I have other trips planned for next season.

My priorities are stunning landscape views for photography, photographing penguins up close, tent camping, and low stress driving (if flooding is a problem in May that would be an issue for getting from place to place). I'm…

Hi

I'm hiring a camper for 5 weeks and heading straight to Mt Maunganui then around the east coast to Wellington then on to do a loop of the South Island.

I know there's hundreds of campsites out there but I'd like to know what you think are the most scenic campgrounds. Preferably with beach or mountain views from the van.

Thanks for your help

Hey there,
I'm looking for someone who would like to drive my car from Wellington to Te Anau in the next 6 weeks or so. There would be no cost involved so it's pretty much a free rental, you could take the time to travel down as long as you had it in Te Anau by April some time. You would have to pay petrol and the cost to take it over the ferry but that's it. It's a good car, super economical and I will make sure it's all up to date with its warrant and registration. If you're interested then let…

Hi - We're a retired couple, looking at flying into Christchurch in early April, checking out the city for a few days. Then renting a campervan and spending four weeks on the south island, then moving across for three weeks on the north island. Finishing in Auckland and spending a couple of days there before flying home. Starting south and moving north as the fall progresses hopefully gives us the better weather. Planning to rent mountain bikes and kayaks on occasion, and do a lot of single…

Hey LP folk,

So I would love to do the Whakahoro-pipiriki stretch of the Whanganui river - but I have two problems

1: I have no desire to do a guided trip with a blathering guide who cooks one's meals and determines the pace.

2: I do not think a solo ("freedom") trip is necessarily safe, even on a stretch of river as placid as this one

SO:

What are your thoughts on the safety of a solo trip along the Whanganui? I am an experienced kayaker, but not a white-water kayaker.

Also, is anyone…
