Driving question. We're driving from Wellington to Aukland in one day. What is the most scenic drive to do? We like to drive and look out the window, and we like to hike/stretch legs mid-stream. Shall we go up the middle via Route 1 and take a little hike near/at Lake Taupo? Or should we take a coastal route, to whatever extent that is possible? Any tips appreciated, including where to eat along the way!

Hello, I am currently looking at hiring a campervan in new Zealand for myself and my boyfriend for about 4/5 weeks in may 2015. Has anyone ever used escape campervans or mighty campervan hire?
the escape is cheaper but I am worried about only having a cool box/esky for that period of time, has anyone done it/have any advise on the subject?

sorry if this has been asked before but i cant find anything on a search. I've got a 23month WHV and am planning to go out in oct. just wondering if i need to have proof of a return ticket or not? i really don't know what will happen as its almost 2 years and i cant plan that far ahead! it may be that i wont go home after and il go somewhere else or end up staying, who knows...

How many days should we allot to seeing most of the sights in Rotorua? I am reading Fodor's Exploring New Zealand guide book, and it recommends a drive around Lake Rotorua to see most of the sights. Will this be enough? The drive takes most of the day according to the guide book.

Also, we plan on leaving Rotorua and going to see the Waitomo Caves before heading the Wanganui.

I am not sure about going to Lake Taupo as some reviews have been luke-warm on this area.

I'm in NZ on a WHV that ends late October. I'd like to stay longer here on a three-month tourist visa, and from what I understand, I have two options:

1) Apply for a visitors' visa from within NZ before my WHV ends. This means filling out a form and paying the $165 NZD application fee, as well as seeing a doctor here (for a fee) and completing the medical forms since I'd be in NZ for longer than 12 months consecutively.

My husband will be graduating from his Master's Program. Before continuing on to his Doctorates I want to surprise him with a 2-week trip to NZ. I thought I was going strong with an Itinerary covering both islands, but as I read other posts and visit NZ websites I am thinking visiting both islands in 2-weeks may not be practical a limited budget.....I don's know what I am doing...Any thoughts....oh, and I am considering taking our 6 month old..........
