Hi all!

I'm going to NZ South Island on a contiki trip ending in Christchurch in late Feb 2014

I have a few days and nights at the end of my trip in Christchurch and just looking for ideas of what to do during this time. I love all adventure sports - rafting, bungee, skydive, jetboat etc, but obviously I cannot travel too far from Christchurch as effectively I only have 2 days/2 nights there..

Thanks :)

look up Bare Kiwi on facebook or you tube. He has 6 videos of what to do in CHCH and the amazing things being done since the big earth quakes. 'gap filler' 'C1' cafe. cardboard cathedral, Beaches, city, night life etc. museum botanical gardens. Trip to Akaroa - lovely french colonial village in a hidden bay where you can dolphin watch.
Tandem paragliding in Sumner, Mountain biking. Hot air balloon. Sky diving etc

There's the luge just out of Christchurch, the Antarctic Centre is superb - not an adventure sport but interesting and well done.
Or, day trips south to Akaroa where there's a pile of things to do. http://www.akaroa.com/

I highly recommend the drive up to Summit Road, and then along it and out to Akaroa. Fun drive, great views, and Lyttelton and Akaroa are both neat towns.

Donuts? I told you I don't like ethnic food!

As per above , I don't think you have anything adventure wise close to Christchurch. I also recommend Lyttleton and Akaroa

You'll find plenty to do near Christchurch for two days...as others have said, head out to Lyttleton and Akaroa...day walks on the Banks Peninsula...jetboating on the Rakaia river...

Agreed on Akaroa.

Lake Tekapo isn't tooooo far away if you left nice and early and could spend the night there. Stop off on the way to see the big salmon and worlds largest knitted jumper...
