On mar. 10 we arrived at the i-site of Rotorua before 7 a.m. and at the right 7:15 a.m. there came a naked bus , we saw the driver get off the bus then tried to tell him our ref. no. but after I said Waitomo the driver 's expression became harsh "wrong bus" just threw out those two words and ignored us.
We with poor English (not our mother tone) asking all the people we could see desperately trying to find the "right bus" and the i-site staff said they don't charge naked bus only intercity we should contact naked bus by ourselves.
At last the two fools,us,saw all the buses off then the i-site staff came out and told us the "WRONG BUS" was the "RIGHT BUS"--- the only bus of that day left us in shock and panic !
We still had two buses drives (includes this trip) and we must go to Auckland to catch the flight to go home the next day and there was no time to change the bus schedule (must before 24 hours) so you know how miserable we were!--- to be Dumped by our RIGHT bus by telling us WRONG BUS! Now I've come home still feel uneasy by the inccident!

1 The company changed the time to leave at 7:30 a.m. not the time 7:45 a.m.on the receipt without informing us---We are absolutely sure , we are very cautious persons---because we've been warned , had checked the mailbox and the dumped mails many many times , and arrive the bus stop to make sure almost 1 hour before time.
If nakedbus informed us then we won't misunderstand there was really a " right bus " waited there and we would not so timid would dare enough to fight the bus driver ---On his expression said that we wrere the hassles to bother him.
2 How come the driver was so sure that we are not his passengers? even don't bother to check his list! Just ,just take a glance of the cellphone or open his majesty's mouth he could save two fools in the world. Why couldn't he check the list count the numbers of passengers before he left as the other drivers did? Doesn't it's the SOP of a driver? We stood beside the bus saw him go to the toilet , jumped on the bus without looked back to see if there were any passengers left behind .
3 I've tried to contact the company from the nakedbus website---I can't afford to phone with poor English and long distance fee. But like a small stone sinking in the sea , no answer at all
The outcome of no answer hurts our feeling spoiled all the good images about NewZealand!!! Could any veterans advice us how to CLAIM our FAIRNESS back? Or just think its a nightmare and forget it?
thank you all
the sad and angry stupid two fools

What help are you hoping to get from ThornTree?

Not that I can help, or give any "useful" advice, but just to say, in this part of my world, (being Aust), I am Asian face, with Aussie passport, but that makes no difference to some, so I know, some people just don't like Asians (I see you are from Taiwan).
I don't know, and can't say why the bus driver treated you like the way you described though, maybe he just didn't like Asians! Yes, it racist of me to say it, and as I mentioned, I can't help...
I am not supporting the treatment you got, just adding my 2.5 Aussie cents worth.

N_B, I guess the poor bugger wants to know what to do about it.

OP, from my experience, it doesnt sound like the norm. As for it being rascist as implied by the last poster, NZ sees plenty of Asian tourists so for any bus driver, it wouldnt be uncommon.

Yeah stuff like this has happened to me before. Most of the time people are helpful despite the language barriers, occasionally things go wrong. Maybe the driver didn't understand what you asked him. Sometimes even though your english might be fine, your accent means the driver has no idea what you are asking. Even english speakers have problems with accents!

I was amused last year waiting at a bus station in Bolivia, when a spanish couple were asking us what platform they needed to catch a bus from. They could talk to the locals in their language yet for some reason had no idea how to work out where there bus was leaving. Given they had a different companies bus tickets, we couldn't help them, but occasionally people have strange moments of panic and its just part of travelling i guess.

OP try not to let it ruin your experience, things like this happen, and often you miss a bus or train. I bought a train ticket once in Vietnam, but ended up getting the wrong ticket... I understand maybe the bus driver was grumpy, he may have had a bad day himself, or been given some bad news. I'd just move on and put it down as an experience.

Of course improving your english if you think its bad is always a good thing to have. I know I'm always trying to improve my spanish and would love to learn another language on top of that.

I had a very similar experience to this in the USA, with no language problem. It was the last bus for the night and the driver told us it was not our bus. We were almost left in Yosemite NP overnight with all available accommodation booked out. Only by sheer luck did we find out just before the bus left that it actually was our bus. These things happen when you travel, it's not the end of the world.

Mate! These things happen all over the world. They happen to me in China regularly. Do you think I should open the "racist door" every time someone has trouble understanding my Putonghua?

People sometimes can be having a 'bad day' and innocent people cop-it. Some people just don't have the right personality to be working in the tourist industry; but that doesn't make them racist. Bad service is unfortunate, but all we can do is complain to the company involved; otherwise we have to suck it up and move on

In China, I've often been turned away from hotels because of my white face. China has an official policy whereby foreigners aren't allowed to stay at places that don't have a special kind of license. How much more racist can you get than that???
