Renting a car NZ

Poppageorge - freedom camping laws have changed a lot in 16 years - I'm sure you never crapped on the roadside, but many tourists do & it has resulted in a major backlash against Wicked campers & Spaceships.
Luc - what happened to your 54 days? I would definitely go with a budget car & a tent. $6 pp/pn in most DoC campsites; a lot more in cities of course.

We still have 54 days in NZ. Maybe, if we have time left, we will fly to Fiji/Cairns from Auckland. We are on a RTW ticket. But if we need the 54 days, we will use it! But yeah, renting a van is still a good possibility. I think we will figure it out once we landed in Auckland. To see if there are some cheap last minute rentals or so. Any tips for cheap flight from NZ by the way? We love to dive as well!
