Where's a good place in the south island to party it up on NYE? I am currently on the West coast but will be movin around. I am thinkin Golden Bay area? ANy input appreciated, or if you know of any big annual parties that would be rad. Peace be the journey!

There's usually heaps of stuff happening over New Years in Queenstown and Wanaka - or check out the NYE music festivals they usually have in the Nelson area.

If you want to go anywhere in the south island for NYE then this ->Phat 08 is probably the best one for New Years...

Queenstown has a lot of NYE parties at the local bars. But drinking in the nearby parks or other public places is not allowed.
CHC also has a big NYE party right in the square, with live music and fireworks afterwards.

You should know that even now a lot of palces in Queenstown are already almost full for Christmas and New Years. However, Christchurch was half empty, as everyone heads to the mountains, lakes or along the coast for the holidays Some of the larger hotels. like Rydges, offer about 50% off, and you can walk all around the center of town easily---and walk home on NYE!
