Can someone tell me what power adaptor I'll need in NZ? On this page http://www.kropla.com/!i.htm it shows 3 pins - one being vertical and the other two at an angle.

However, a number of adaptors I've seen advertised as "NZ & Oz" only have the 2 angled pins - no middle pin, and providing the distance apart is right, I have an adaptor that I can turn to the right angles, but I can only pair them up with either a round earth pin or no earth pin.

I'll only be using 2-wire mains anyway (chargers, shaver, etc) so can I use a 2-pin plug or are the sockets like in the UK where you have to open up the earth socket before you can insert the live and neutral?

Cheers

Two pins will be fine. That's how most chargers, shavers etc come over this way.

The third pin is the earthing pin.

Every powerpoint in Australia and NZ will take either the 2 or 3 pin plug. The 3rd pin is an extra safety feature but is not necessary for any device to be plugged in.

Technically the third pin is required for devices that are not double insulated, such as most heaters, kettles, etc. Most small appliances, chargers, shavers etc are double insulated, hence nil requirement for the earth.

In NZ, we run 230/240 volts with 10 amps, so your appliances will have to be compatible with this.
