So I've got an opportunity to relocate a car from Christchurch to Wanaka. Petrol cost will probably be $100+, so I'm looking for riders to make it cost effective. I'd love to have the wheels, but I'm cheap, what can I say. I was planning on hitchhiking if I couldn't find a ride. Even split between 2 people though, it will be about same cost as a bus ticket, with the freedom of a car. I'm heading to a HelpX gig near Arrowtown, and have told them I will be there around the 8th of Jan, which is the day after tomorrow, so ideally I'd like to leave as soon as tomorrow, probably ideally Weds, Thurs latest, and would be up for spending a night somewhere along the way, but don't really want to dawdle too much as I'm keen to avoid jerking my HelpX hosts around too much, and I only just arrived in NZ on a year WH visa, so I've got time to go back if I see somewhere along the way where I'd like to spend more time. It looks like it's about a 6 hr drive, so if we did do it in 2 days, there'd be a bit of time to stop and check out towns along the way and/or fit in a short walk or 2, but not much. Realistically, it will mostly be appreciating scenery out the window. I am a Canadian gal, 33, easy going, solid driver, outdoorsy, eco-conscious, have worked as a gardener, wilderness guide and natural builder, among other things. I'm happy to drive the whole way, but wouldn't mind splitting the driving if you're up for it. I have a tent etc. so would be down for camping or hostel if we split it into 2 days and stayed somewhere along the way for a night. If you only want to catch a ride part way, that's cool too. Hoping to get this organized asap, so PM me now if you're interested! --Hilary
