Intercity advise labelling baggage to final destination. I have booked Whitianga-Thames-Auckland-Paihia bus (2 bus transfers). Will I have to collect baggage when I transfer buses or will my bag be automatically transfered by Intercity. I have a 4 hour stopover in Auckland, if I have to collect my bag, do Intercity have a left luggage as I want to use the time to visit the Art Gallery.
Thanks

Eskdale, I would guess that the people to ask are the folks at Intercity! Talk to the first person you give the baggage to and you should find out what to do. As for luggage provisions at the Auckland terminal, a simple Google search turned up this Lonely Planet thread.

Seek and ye shall find. Bon Voyage.

Direct from Intercity:- It is the passengers responsibility to transfer the luggage in between bus transfers. As there is wait time in between the connecting bus services, the driver of the fist bus will not be able to wait behind in order to assist with the transfers.

Thankyou for the info. With Intercity saying that baggage must be labelled FINAL destination I was hoping I would be able to forget about it until then. But it is not a problem, since there are lockers at the bus station I will still be able to visit the Art Gallery while in Auckland.
Thanks again

It gets labelled with final destination so en route bus drives know not to unload.
