ok ok thank you all for your comments.. If you have never seen Keens they are more like a shoe than a sandal and do have great foot support but my keens do not have ankle support.. that said unless i am doing a really rocky hike that is generally not a problem. I did not know what the trail was like so the reason for asking. My H has a pair as well but his are beige mine are black .. on a muddy trail he may do better with his hiking shoes as the mud won't show on the black as much:)

as you can see they are much more supportive that what one might imagine a sandal to be:)

It's a very wet place. I would think at most times you would want something enclosed as the place is very weather exposed on this track. I'm just back from doing the Milford and it was very cold and wet for most of the time there.
