My LP guide is two years old. I assume that post-earthquake things might be in flux in Christchurch. What are a few good budget options, including hostels. I will have a car.

There are still very few hostels. Over the summer there was an article in the paper about backpackers being turned away every day by the iSite. Jailhouse gets good reviews. I think the YHA Rolleston has reopened. Kiwi Basecamp generally gets poor reviews but I don't know it. North & South camping Ground near the airport has nice little cabins.
