My husband and I are planning to travel to New Zealand this July for another (our 2nd) round of IVF. Sounds crazy, but with the exchange rate, the cost in NZ is about 1/3 of what it would cost us to do it here. We've had doctor consults (via Skype) in both Christchurch and Wellington and now need to decide which city we want to seek treatment in. We liked both the doctors we spoke with, and would be happy working with either of them. So, now it seems to be more about the location.
I studied abroad in Christchurch when I was in college, and visited Wellington for a short trip during that time. I loved being on the South Island, but am assuming it will be quite different and harder to get around in the winter? I'm also wondering how CHC is now in terms of its recovery from the earthquakes?
~Is the weather in Christchurch or Wellington preferable during this time? I've heard Wellington can be super windy and cold, but CHC is obviously further south(colder).
~In terms of a city to hang out in for 2-3 weeks, which would be more enjoyable?
~Recommended day trips or overnight trips from these 2 places?
Thanks!
