Hi
I am visiting NZ next year and was hoping to travel around via bus. Is it possible to buy a "hop on/hop off" ticket for a national bus company? The only thing I can seem to find on the internet is for bus tours which follow a prescribed route and, more often than not, a fixed time-table. I have heard that the bus network in NZ is pretty poor, but surely they have something?!?
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Intercity, the main bus line, have a system where you can buy blocks of hours. It's way cheaper than Magic, Kiwi Experience and their ilk, and being the national bus line they serve most places (There are a few gaps in the service). It's called a Flexipass - Google it!

the bus service in nz is not in any way poor.
I travelled with an intercity flexipass (as mentioned above) for 5 weeks a couple of years ago and it was fantastic.

This might be worth checking these guys out if you're on a budget - www.nakedbus.com</a>. Not actually used them myself, but come across their ads often on yougodo.com.
And why you're at it, maybe you want to check out some of the fun stauuf you can do in New Zealand... Activities in NZ.
