best city christchurch, queenstown or wellington

1. Queenstown (!)
2. Christchurch
3. Auckland
4. Wellington

Heard a lot about the nightlife in Dunedin tho, but haven´t been there

Queenstown is definetly the best city in my opinion. The place is full of backpackers, who doesnt work, so everyday is a weekend. Check out the huge the impressive beer selection at the Minibar. Go for a teapot at The World Bar and cure your hangover at the Fergburger.

Dunedin is a university town, so there is a lot of young people, and everything is centered at the Octagon.

I vote Queenstown.

Queenstown goes off, year round but particularly in winter. (bring lots of clothes though!)
It really depends what sort of atmosphere you're after, too. Queenstown is the place for pubs and backpacker/traveller type drunken revelry. Christchurch can offer more dance clubs whilst Wellington is great for live music and sophisticated 'ambience' type places. The beauty about all three locations (compared to say Auckland) is that all the best places for nightlife are within easy walking distance of each other.
Christchurch would probably be your cheapest option out of the three, if cost is a factor.

Yes, Queenstown has had a lot of film coverage in nz recently due to teh local council intending to reduce the hours licensed premises can trade, due to the large numbers of drunken fools wandering the streets and vomiting in rubbish bins- what a shame that some visitors (including kiwis) act this way whilst on holiday

I vote Wellington (even though I live in Auckland). There's a a much better vibe there. I suppose it depends on the person - each to their own and all that.

If I could have a negative vote, definitely Christchurch... Any Cantabs out there???

Definately Wellington Great Pubs, clubs, cafes and people. Followed by Queenstown (is not a city though), then Christchurch......Auckland? where's that? :o) Yes I'm from Wellington.
