Hi. I am flying into AKL and out of AKL arriving on 13 July and out on the 25th. Several years ago I visited the South Island only. This time we are going to focus on the North Island. Can anyone provide me with an itinerary? We like nice-scenic drives, seafood, wine...:). I know this is very vague, but unlike the south island, I am little confused as to where to go in the north. thanks. We will probably spend the first 3 nights in the AKL area.

As a starting point you could do your nights something like this:
1 Auckland
2 Auckland
3 Paihia
4 Ahipara
5 Auckland
6 Whitianga/Hahei
7 Rotorua
8 Taupo
9 Napier (wine) OR National Park/Ohakune (scenery/hiking)
10 Wellington
11 Wellington
12 Auckland
For some people that may be a bit too much moving around.
I was there at the same time of year, and Tongariro National Park is my favourite part of the North Island, followed by the Coromandel. The areas north of Auckland are more of a summer destination, but still not bad during winter.
