Can anyone recommend a budget hiking company in Australia and NZ? I want to hike in the Northern Territory but all the companies I have found online are so expensive - AUD400/day ++

I am travelling solo and not an experienced hiker so would prefer a small group and guide rather than go solo. Help!

thanks in advance:)

Hi!

I am planning to visit Australia for 3 weeks with my husband and (then) 9 month old daughter. I have a few (read: A LOT) of questions on planning my itinerary and I’ll be so grateful if you guy could help me out. I’ll dive into the questions straight away.

  1. We are planning to go in the month of September. The only reason for planning the trip in September is so that the weather settles down and I don’t have to fret over keeping my baby warm if its too cold. Will the weather be…

Hi
My family and I (kids, aged 7 + 8) will be arriving in Brisbane mid January 2019. We have about 2 weeks to with, give or take a few days. We plan to hire a car, and go up to Noosa (possibly further up to Hervey Bay / Fraser Island / Lady Elliot Island too), then drive back down to Sydney. Any advice on itinerary and places to break the journey at?

I know it will be busy, and expensive, but we couldn't really avoid January......

Thanks!
Fiona

Hello all,

Looking into doing a trip for two to the NT in early September. We would plan to hire a car, likely a 4WD.

Tentative itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrive in Darwin late morning/early afternoon, get car and go to Jabiru. Bowali Visitor Centre, go to Ubirr for walk and sunset. Overnight Jabiru

Day 2 -
Bardedjilidji Walk
Manngarre Walk
Nourlangie, Anbangbang Billabong
Overnight Cooinda

Day 3 -
Yellow Water Boat Cruise (sunrise)
Warradjan Cultural Centre
Maguk
Bukbukluk Lookout
Drive to Mary River…

Hello,

I've wanted to go to Australia since I was 6, 20 odd years later and it is on the horizon.
At the moment I'm likely to be going alone, so wondered whether it is better to do a guided tour (approx. 25 days) from Sydney to Melbourne - I could have a spot of time in each spot before the tour strats/after it finishes. The tour includes popular sites: Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Uluru, etc. Tour works out approximately £3500 plus spending money; or do I go it alone…

Hi,

Following on from a recent post I arrive in Adelaide 7am on Sunday 9th July on a flight. I am planning on travelling north towards Darwin taking around a month.

I have the chance of a space in the Mail Run from Coober Pedy on Thursday 13th July, however thats the only date on offer so gives just 4 days in Adelaide and overnight bus to get to Coober Pedy - is 4 days in Adelaide sufficient? Doesn't seem loads to see in Adelaide but do want to see a bit expecially tour at the cricket ground…

Hi. We're going to be in Australia in January 2019 with our kids who will be 7 and 8. We'll be 3 months in to a world trip, so, although I know January isn't the ideal time to be in Oz, thats just the way it is, and also we have friends in Melbourne, so wanted to visit them while they and their kids are off school.

So, we'll be keeping most of our travels to the southern half of Australia where the climate seems to be better for us in Jan. We have about 5 weeks before moving on to New Zealand…

One of you was kind enuf to tell me it's NOT worth it to take a train from MEL to SYD. The train from SYD to BRIS goes inland, and is long, arrives at 5 AM...the plane/bus combo to Port Macquarie and bus to Brisbane seems to go along the coast. Is that worthwhile? I won't have time to get off and spend a day in Byron Bay, etc, probably...but will the ride be inspiring? (And comfortable enough, etc?) THANKS, guys!

Hi,

I arrive in Adelaide early July from fling from the UK. I have 4 weeks before by flight out of Darwin. I aim to travel north by bus. My initial thoughts for South Australia are:

Day 1 - 5 Adelaide
Greyhound bus departs 18.00 it seems
Day 6
Arrive Pimba 12.45 - I'm interested in seeing Maralinga Test Rocket sight and Woomera. It seems Woomera is 6km away from Pimba where the bus stops - is there transport between them. Is it possible to visit the rocket test sight or Maralinga easily? Stay…
